Why does sand move down the beach?
Longshore Drift
The prevailing wind causes the direction of the waves.
The waves approach the beach at an angle.
This is called Swash.
The waves retreat perpendicular to the coast bac out to sea.
This is called backwash
Over time the Zig-Zag effect of the waves causes material to move down the coast line.
