Introduction to HS2

High Speed 1 (HS1) is a high-speed rail line that connects London and Paris. HS2 is a proposed high-speed rail connection connecting London and the North of England (Manchester and Leeds). The HS2 project is expected to be completed in 2026 at a cost of at least £43 billion. It would drastically reduce travel times, such as from London to Birmingham, which will be reduced from an hour and a half to just 49 minutes. It is likely that high-speed rail will be extended to Scotland in the future.
